JAPAN GUIDE
The word EN (縁) holds a deep significance in the Japanese language, symbolizing meaningful connections that are to be nurtured and cherished. This concept underpins the idea of fostering positive economic circulation and supporting communities of artisans and craftsmen. During her 16 years of living in Kyoto, Japan’s ancient capital, Eri was fortunate to form personal bonds with many of these talented individuals which now form the basis for her unique touring offerings.
Working with Eri resembles working with a DMC as she is able to curate unique itineraries throughout Japan that flow to the pace of your individual clients needs, act as a concierge to secure reservations at tough to reach restaurants, book train tickets and so much more.
About the founder, Eri Nakamura
After establishing herself as a highly regarded freelance guide with one of Japan’s largest DMCs, Eri was recruited as a manager by a burgeoning luxury travel agency in Tokyo, an opportunity that allowed her to deepen her understanding of organizational operations. Deciding to then combine both experiences working as a guide & itinerary builder and driven by her passion for sharing the authentic essence of Japan, Eri chose to embark on her own entrepreneurial journey. Her vision focuses on highlighting the country’s enduring traditions, particularly its craftsmanship, which has served as the foundation of Japanese culture for thousands of years. This heritage continues to thrive today in various forms, from masterful artistry to the refined pursuit of culinary excellence.
Thus, EN Tour functions as a DMC but distinguishes itself by offering activities with a strong artistic focus. Eri believes that the true strength and treasures of Japanese culture lie in its ever-changing seasons and the craftsmanship that reflects a deep admiration for the beauty of these subtle, shifting moments.
In her view, artisans and craftsmen have been the very foundation of Japan’s identity for thousands of years. Their dedication continues to manifest in various forms today, from the refined art of culinary creation to other aspects of daily life.
Eri’s vision is to create opportunities for visitors—and even Japanese natives—to authentically engage with this culture by learning from artisans and craftsmen. She hopes to showcase their devotion to perfecting their skills, passed down through countless generations, and provide a deeper understanding of what it means to be part of this tradition. Her work is fueled by a profound admiration for the craftsmanship and cultural heritage that define Japan. She strives to connect the ancient past to the present and extend it into the future, recognizing that while lifestyles and priorities will inevitably evolve, the essence of this cultural legacy can endure.
