Sophia Hatchitt, our founder, has a deep connection to Asia, cultivated through years of living, working, and exploring the region. Her journey began with a summer at a resort in Okinawa, Japan, where she fell in love with the culture and landscapes. Over the years, she returned to Japan frequently, venturing beyond the typical tourist paths to discover hidden gems from Gifu Prefecture to the Seto Inland Sea. This translated to other parts of Asia from backpacking in Myanmar to regularly visiting extended family in Malaysia.

Her professional career in Asia took shape as she immersed herself in its vibrant travel industry before transitioning to roles in New York, where she worked for a Tour Operator and a Destination Management Company, both specializing in Asia. Prior to founding Komasa, Sophia worked in Partner Relations at Fora, a New York-based Travel Agency.

Komasa Collection was born out of a passion to connect Travel Advisors with Asia’s most unique and boutique experiences. Our mission is to reveal the region’s hidden treasures and craft bespoke journeys for discerning travelers. From lesser-known destinations to boutique accommodations and expert local guides, we equip Travel Advisors with the tools to deliver unparalleled experiences for their clients.
